Throughout the years, Latin Pop music has made a comeback with many Latin artists charting on the top 100’s.  With Latin artists reaching the top 100’s charts on Spotify and Billboard, many have released new music and albums, some of which have made their way to the charts. Here are a few artists to check out.

1.Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny (Benito Antonio Martines Ocasio) is a Puerto Rican singer with songs that have been streamed billions of times on platforms such as Spotify and YouTube. Bad Bunny is one of the most popular artists right now, having worked with artists such as Drake and Cardi B. Bad Bunny’s most popular song is “Dakiti” featuring Jhay Cortez, a Puerto Rican rapper. “Dakiti” is on Bad Bunny’s recent album “El Último Tour del Mundo,” which is the first album entirely in Spanish to hit  No. 1. The song “Dakiti” is making its rounds across the globe, and even fans who don’t know Spanish are loving it. Bad Bunny announced that he will go on tour in 2022, and fans have already purchased tickets. Prices began at $80, but have since risen due to the high demand, with tickets now ranging from $489 to $2,523+ on Ticketmaster.  Paola Leon, a huge fan of Bad Bunny said, “I definitely recommend listening to his music especially if you are looking for an upbeat song, his music is a great way to immerse yourself into Latin Pop music.” 

2. Karol G

KAROL G, Nicki Minaj – Tusa (Official Video)

Karol G (Carolina Giraldo Navarro) is a Columbian singer and songwriter whose songs vary from reggaeton, R&B, and other genres. Karol G’s  “KG5016” is the first record that she recorded as a co-producer, and it features collaborations with Nicki Minaj, J-Balvin, and Ozuna. Her album “KG5016” features her new song “Tusa” which was released in 2021 and features Nicki Minaj. It is one of her most successful songs. This was the first time Karol G, a Colombian musician, and American hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj have worked together on a song. And, it was Karol who took the initiative to make the collaboration a reality.  “Tusa” was announced to be the song of the year at the ASCAP Latin Music Awards, reaching more than half a billion views on Youtube. Because of the amount of support “Tusa” has received, the song peaked at #1 on Karol G’s Chart History on Billboard. Mariela Miguel said, “ Tusa is one of my favorite songs at the moment.” Miguel continues to say, “ It’s nice to see artists collaborating with each other,  especially Latin artists collaborating with other American artists.”

3. J Balvin 

J Balvin – Ay Vamos (Official Video) 

José Álvaro Osorio Balvín, better known as J Balvin, is a Colombian reggaeton and urban singer. Throughout his career, Balvin has won numerous awards, including three Grammys. Balvin won record of the year in 2018 for “I Like It,” Best Latin Rock, Urban, or Alternative Album in 2019 for “Oasis,” and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in 2020 for “Un Dia (One Day).”  Because of his great successes, some of his music has consecutively hit No.1 on Billboard’s music chart (those include songs like “Un Dia (One day),” “Mi Gente,”  “X” etc.). One of his most successful songs has been “Ay Vamos,” which hit No. 1 on billboards on March 7, 2015, spending thirty-five weeks in the top 10. That was J Balvin’s first No.1 hit as an artist. “Ay Vamos” has been streamed more than 1.7 billion times on youtube, and that number continues to rise. In 2015, he performed “Ay Vamos” at Univision’s Premio Lo Nuestro awards show and won Urban Artist of the Year.  Estella Ramos, who normally does not listen to Latin Pop music says, “When I first listened to Ay Vamos, I had no clue what he was saying, but the more I listened to it, the more I enjoyed it.” “I think it was the beat that got me more into Latin Pop music,” Ramos added. Balvin continues to grow as a musician, and many people are here to keep listening.

4. Natti Natasha

Natti Natasha Ozuna – Criminal (Official Music Video) 

Natti Natasha ( Natalia Alexandra Gutiérrez Batista) is a Dominican singer and songwriter. Natti Natasha’s career as a musician has quickly grown after her single “Criminal” was released.  One of her most successful songs is “Criminal” featuring Ozuna, which was released in 2017. Her single “Criminal” was the first single to initiate the start of her successful career. The song has over 2 billion views on Youtube and counting. In 2017, after she released “Criminal,” Natti Natasha was named the“Most-Watched Spanish-Speaking Female Urban Artist ” on Youtube. Over the course of her career, Natti Natasha has collaborated with other Latin artists such as Karol G, Becky G, and Bad Bunny.  Her latest album illumiNATI reached No. 3 on the Top Latin Albums chart, scoring the biggest week for a Latin album by a solo woman in over a year and a half. Aside from being No. 3 on the Top Latin Albums chart,  illumiNATI debuts at No. 3 on the Latin Rhythm Albums chart, in addition to its Top Latin Albums top ten debuts. Angela Lopez, who is a fan of Latin Pop music, said, “I have listened to many Latin artists and Natti Natasha is by far my favorite.” “I recommend listening to her songs with your friends because they definitely get you in the mood to dance,” Lopez continued.
