As the 2023-2024 school year begins new students may have questions about how the school functions. This year’s senior class president, Ava Langon, is responsible for creating events for the seniors and engaging with the class of 24′.
Langon highlights her accomplishments and her Vice President, Ryan Ezenagu, and how they strive to get many of the students involved.
“The biggest challenge is trying to get everyone in the class involved since there are 700 people,” she said.
“My favorite thing so far is senior sunrise, we actually had a large turnout, and even though there was no sunrise hundreds of students came together to bond and create unforgettable memories for our last year,” Langon said.
The love for the students doesn’t stop at just these organized events. “My favorite thing about our school is its diversity. We have such a large student body and there is something at HBHS for everyone. Whether it’s music, art, ceramics, culinary, ASB, M.U.N., etc, I feel that everyone can find a special place at HBHS,” says Langon.
Langon loves to create events that bond students together, specifically ones that allow everyone, no matter their interests, to participate.
When speaking about her vice president, Ryan Ezenagu, Langon says, “Ryan always looks out for what is best for the students at HBHS and has their best interests at heart.”
She also has a lot of love for Mrs. Seeker, our school’s ASB teacher. “I also wanna thank Mrs. Seeker for helping Ryan and I, she does so much for ASB and our school and we all appreciate her and what she does,” says Langon.
If any students are interested in running for class president next year, a tip from Langon is to be creative and represent things you truly believe in. She says, “Ryan and I had a slogan “BeReal, Vote REAL” since our initials make RE (Ryan Ezenagu) and AL (Ava Langon). Our motives for running was to bring authentic relationships and bonds throughout our senior class and create unforgettable memories.”
Along with this confidence, Langon did have doubts during her campaign. Langon said, “The hardest part was the fear of losing, but I quickly got over that fear when I was confident in what I had to offer to this school. Everyone’s interests are important to me and I want it to be my main goal to make sure everyone is not just invited but included in all senior activities and events.”
Langon’s hard work is evident in her work. The effort that both Langon and Ezenagu put in for the senior class is important in helping create the best memories for students. The next event she hopes everyone will participate in is “Senior Pie Day” (Date TBD) where you can pay money to pie seniors and help fundraise money.
