Simon & Garfunkel’s most famous album, “Bridge Over Troubled Water” came out mid-winter of 1970. The seventh track, “Baby Driver,” is jaunty, fun, and tells a story. In 2017 a movie directed by Edgar Wright was named after this song. The movie is essentially about a young adult by the name of Baby who’s a very proficient driver and works a dangerous job. The Simon & Garfunkel song only plays during the end credits, but it’s all worth it for the glorious soundtrack built around Baby’s music taste—featuring artists like T. Rex and Queen.
The album, “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” essentially has two types of songs. Half of the album is made up of whimsical, enchanting folk songs with echoey vocals and acoustic guitar. The second style, which includes “Baby Driver,” is very melodic and almost bouncy, but louder than the other half of the record. It’s got a lot of great qualities that can help shake up an otherwise cut-and-dry folk album.
