In 1964 The Beatles released their third studio album, “A Hard Day’s Night.” The fifth track, “And I Love Her,” is a soft, romantic track sung by one of the main vocalists and their bassist, Paul McCartney. McCartney was one of the best love songwriters in the group, but the song is also credited to the other half of the main singing/writing duo, John Lennon. “And I Love Her” is one of the few songs with the word ‘love’ in the title out of their 200-something songs, but it’s beautiful and perfect for the Valentine’s season.
T. Rex’s second album, “Electric Warrior” was a major turning point for the band and their sound. Moving away from folk and more into a pop/glam-rock sound. The same year as the original album’s release, 1971, they released an expanded and remastered version that included a track titled “Hot Love.” It’s a very happy, pop-ish love song. The song is just a feel-good tune that makes people happy. It’s one of the band’s most popular songs, which makes sense because it’s such a classic.
When people think of the Ramones, normally, the first thing they think of is punk rock from the 70s. Well, “End of the Century” was their fifth studio album and it included a cover of The Ronetts’ “Baby, I Love You” from their debut album in 1963. Still, despite the original being a classic, they can make it their own. The style in which they sing the song is very reminiscent of their “Needles and Pins” cover in 1978 for “Road to Ruin,” the album released just before “End of the Century.”
