“What Happened To The Beach” is British pop-rock singer Declan McKenna’s third and newest album, released February 9. The album is a twelve-track ‘buzz-fest.’ It is childish and lighthearted, a more fun, electronic record compared to his previous releases. It’s a good album to get ready for the springtime with the happy sound and sunny album cover. Track eight, “The Phantom Buzz (Kick In),” is a grainy, explicit song with loud, janty guitar and tons of cymbal percussion.
It’s a pretty new sound for McKenna, striving from his grainy band-rock sound of his debut album—”What Do You Think About The Car?”—and the more Bowie-inspired tracks of his sophomore album, “Zeros.” It’s refreshing and funky.
