The Electives Fair which was held at Huntington Beach High School on February 8, was an inclusive fair where everyone can learn about possible classes to take in their following year of school. With a wide array of elective courses on display, the fair drew crowds of enthusiastic learners seeking to expand their horizons beyond the core curriculum.
Electives such as Yearbook, Sports Medicine, Spanish, AVID, and many more options students can take were on display. The teachers and students, who were managing the booths, offered demonstrations and information for anyone wanting to learn more about it.
Sydney Harriss, a senior at Huntington Beach High School said, “Sports med is not just about taking notes, there is an interactive side where you feel involved and you’re helping others.”
In addition to providing students with valuable information about elective courses, the fair also served as an opportunity for teachers to connect with their potential future students and generate excitement about their respective subjects.
Lauren Pilkington, a Junior at Huntington Beach High School said, “The electives fair is an amazing opportunity for students to feel connected to people just like them and hear about their experiences in the classes.”
Students were left with a new sense of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming school year. The fair provided information about the diverse selection of electives HBHS students can select this upcoming semester.
For many students, the Electives fair was not just a showcase for academic opportunities but a new way to explore personal growth. As they prepare to select the courses for the next school year, they can do so with a sense of excitement knowing that they have the power to shape their educational journey according to their interests and aspirations.
