On February 7th, 9th, and 14th, Huntington Beach High School’s (HBHS) Link Crew held a Valentine’s Day card-making workshop in Claire Main’s classroom. This event was open to all students in Huntington Beach High School, and intended to bring them closer and connect them to other students. Both Link Crew leaders and students celebrated Valentine’s Day together, from romantic to platonic relationships.
Claire Main, a supervisor for Link Crew says, “It’s very therapeutic for most students and gives us all a chance to have a moment of joy on a busy day. I think this activity is important for our campus because we all could use a little more love and more constant reminders that we have people in our lives who think of us.”
Link Crew provided an array of supplies such as stickers, washi tape, flower punches, and glitter pens. Students were encouraged to use their full creativity to make Valentine’s Day cards for each other.
HBHS Junior Lynh Tran said, “It was nice to make cards since we do not get a chance to make crafts in our regular classes anymore. It made me feel like a child again.”
Marian Hsieh, an HBHS Junior, said, “I had a lot of fun and I’m glad I was able to make cards for my friends.”
Overall, the event was a huge success, giving students a place to come together and bring out their creativity. Link Crew’s workshop enabled students to celebrate their connections with others and show their love for those around them, while also helping to build new bonds. If you missed this event, you can look forward to Link Crew’s Lucky Charms Workshop, which will be held in March.
