Bob Dylan is a cult-classic folk singer famous for his cathartic storytelling lyrics, silvery harmonica, and dissonant vocals. “Blonde on Blonde” is Dylan’s seventh studio album, released in the summer of 1966, and it remains one of his most famous and recognizable records to date. “Pledging My Time” is a classic 8-bar blues song that makes this album the magnum opus that it is. The lyrics’ rhythm works as a call-and-response to the interjecting harmonica parts. The iconic instrumental, dominated by his woodwind, has an iconic harp lick that is extremely recognizable in blues music. The silver harp on the song is eminent to the track, with its wailing start, high octave changes, and solo. Other songs on the album with heavy inclusion of the harmonica are “I Want You” and “Leopard-Skin-Pill-Box Hat,” but most of the album’s songs have harmonica in the intros.
