In 1971, after the Beatles broke up the previous year, Paul McCartney released his second solo album, “Ram.” It is the only McCartney album that has shared credit with his late wife, Linda McCartney, who was a part of his second band, Wings. It reached number one in the UK and remained in the chart’s top 10 list for five consecutive months. “Ram” is regarded as the blueprint for the indie pop-rock genre that is so popular in the industry today.
“Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey” is a song very much in McCartney’s style, it being a medley of two songs with distinct sounds that flow nearly effortlessly into one another. It starts soft before getting more upbeat and fun, and the instrumental is full of horns.
