“Sometime In New York City” is a 1972 hyper-political album about women empowerment, the Attica State prison riots, the Northern Ireland conflict, peace with humanity, and more. “Sometime in NYC” is a half studio recorded-half live double album with sixteen songs each with their own heartfelt topic. It wasn’t uncommon for John Lennon to be blatantly political, and with the power of his wife, musician-peace activist Yoko Ono, they created a very inspiring record. The couple used their marriage to protest the Vietnam War in 1969 knowing Lennon’s marriage would be huge for the press. They’ve been using their platforms and fame to spread their message, much like they did with their Christmas song “Happy Xmas (War Is Over).” Ono’s song “We’re All Water” has a very beautiful meaning behind it, being a little over seven minutes of Ono singing about humanity and togetherness.
