KIϞϞ debuted their first album in 1974 and quickly dominated the hard-rock and glam-rock scene with their amazing instrumentals, theatrical stage makeup, and wild leather getups. By November of 1976, they were putting out their fifth studio album, “Rock And Roll Over.” Unlike most bands, they have two lead singers, but the other members tend to sing a few tracks per album—sort of like how The Beatles did nearly ten years before. While Paul Stanley, rhythm guitarist, sings the majority of the tracks, “Rock And Roll Over” features “Baby Diver” and “Hard Luck Woman,” sung by the drummer, Peter Criss—AKA The Catman.
“Hard Luck Woman” is the honorary soft track to the record. It sounds almost like “It Never Rains In Southern California” by Albert Hammond from 1972. It’s very melodic and sweet, sort of what yacht rock often sounds like (which was a subcategory that came into the rock scene from the mid-70s to the late ‘80s.)
Now that “Rock And Roll Over” is a 47-year-old record, KIϞϞ fans will only watch as their albums get older and older, but they will remain classics. Check out ‘KISS them Goodbye’ as a farewell to the band who stopped touring in early December of 2023—giving fans nearly 50 years of amazing rock memories!
